I have just found a great blog - i AM alive by Amie, a talented photographer and writer. She has developed Three Things Thursday. I've decided to join in - you just have to post three things about yourself each Thursday on a topic of Amie's choosing.
This week is 'Three Things About Your Childhood That Make You Who You Are'. Here goes!
1) I did lots of amateur dramatics and musicals. This has made me somewhat over the top, somewhat arty-farty, and very likely to burst into song at the slightest provocation.
2) I was nicknamed 'Kamikaze' for my ridiculous lack of fear when encountering slides, swings, and anything else fun but dangerous.
3) I never went to a funeral as a child. At the age of 28, I've still never been to one. As far as never having done something can shape you, this has shaped me. I am so thankful for my family and friends' continuing health, but fearful for how I will cope with Death when it finally takes somebody I love.
Never expected that to get serious.
Check this out on Amie's blog and join in - I'd love to know a bit more about you! Post a comment here if you've played so I know to look it up.
Those are really cool things. Is that you in the photo? If yes, you look great. I will check out the link.

Thanks Clarissa. I'm afraid that's not me in the photo! I don't have any good theatre snaps of me to hand. I am that sort of build and hair colour though (hair probably longer than hers), and I wore my mother's wedding dress for a play once which was similar to this one.
ReplyDeleteThought it was a lovely photo...but not sure who she is!
Wow, both funny and quite serious. I'm so glad you participated! I'm following your blog now.
ReplyDeleteI did quite a few musicals and plays, too! I always loved dressing up as someone else and living in an alternate world for 1+ hours. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you for sharing this! One of my main characters in Cinders is named Amie. I might just have to go check out that blog, hehe. Wow about never being to a funeral! I've been to way too many. It's really sad. :(
ReplyDeleteWhatever the opposite of kamikaze is that would be me. I was always too scared!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog :)
Amie: Thanks! I'll be back next week to join in again :-)
ReplyDeleteAA: That's exactly it. We all need a little bit of make-beileve from time to time. I'm still involved in some shows as a bit of escapism...
Michelle: Hello again! I know - I've been really lucky never to have been to a funeral. My last grandparent died when I was 5, and my parents decided my brother and I were too young to go to the funeral. I'm dreading the first time I have to go to one - I cry at the slightest thing and would just be an utter mess.
Ellie: No problem! I really liked your blog. I don't know the opposite of kamikaze...cautious? Scaredy? ;-)
I have to say, I love the nickname Kamikaze. That has 'book character' written all over it... :)
ReplyDeleteHi Hanna,
ReplyDelete:-) Glad you like the nickname. Unfortunately it hasn't stuck with me into adulthood, but I might insist people call me that from now on!
